Exploration Geology and Keeping Australia Prosperous

1 CPD HourJoin Dr Rob Hough, exploration geologist at CSIRO, as he gives a free talk about how the detective skills of Australian scientists can continue to make Australia prosper.

Rob is an investigator, of sorts, looking for clues that will lead to the discovery of mineral wealth. Exploring bacteria, gases, plants and even termites can provide hints as to the geology under the surface. Bacteria and gases help move metals through the earth, while different plants and termites prefer different foundations; Rob can use these factors to point him in the right direction.

In this talk, Rob will describe the ways that science and innovation are helping to find the resources that can provide a prosperous future for Australia.

ATSE is the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE). One of the objectives of the Academy is to provide a forum for the study and discussion of issues relevant to the formulation of public policy for technological sciences and engineering based activities, and the communication of expert advice to Government and the community.
