David I Groves was formerly the Director of the Centres for Strategic Mineral Deposits and Global Metallogeny and is now Emeritus Professor associated with their successor, the Centre for Exploration Targeting, at UWA in Perth.  He is a former President of the Society of Economic Geologists (SEG), has served as SEG International Exchange Lecturer and has been awarded both the SEG Silver Medal and SEG Penrose Gold Medal, in addition to the SGA Gold Medal, for his contributions to economic geology. He has also served on the Editorial Panel of Economic Geology.
