1 CPD HourRedefining G.O.D.

Bill McCallum

Great Ore Deposits are no longer a geological domain, a G.O.D. is a resource that
becomes a successful producer. In my presentation, I will:

  • Run through a basic process for project development.
  • Present a few vague (but real) examples of project development gone wrong.
  • Discuss the metallurgical aspects of project development.

About the presenter

Bill McCallum graduated from Bendigo in 1981 as a metallurgist and started at the CSA
mine in Cobar in the same year. He spent the next 15 years working in base metals and
gold in NSW, PNG and the NT. He then joined Normandy Mining in Adelaide and spent 11
years in the Normandy then Newmont technical services teams. When Newmont closed
their Adelaide Office in 2007, Bill started a consultancy and has worked with a number of
companies in operations management and improvement, projects, commissioning and
metal accounting audits. Bill returned to Tatura in early 2011.
