Multi-scale Seismic Exploration for Minerals

Multi-scale Seismic Exploration for Minerals

Geoconferences Team WA

4 CPD HoursMulti-scale Seismic Exploration for Minerals is a half day Team WA workshop.

Seismic is a powerful yet underutilised range of techniques in mineral exploration. Long used in the oil and gas space, seismic is becoming increasingly important in the hunt for hidden mineral deposits, from imagery of regolith through definition of fluid pathways to direct imagery of metalliferous deposits.

Presenters:

Ross Cayley (Geological Survey of Victoria)   Seismic reflection through Victoria –understanding of the region for exploration

Sandra Occhipinti (CET-UWA) Regional-scale reflection seismic from the Albany-Fraser region

Roric Smith (Evolution Mining) Reflection seismic – exploration programs

Andreas Scheib (GSWA) Shallow passive seismic for regolith definition and measurement

Huaiyu Yuan (CET – CCFS)  Use of passive seismic: ambient noise tomography, receiver functions

A panel discussion and Q&A forum will follow the presentations. Morning tea is provided.
