  • AIG is the leading professional institute representing geoscientists in all
    professional sectors throughout Australia.

AIG supports and actively participates in the development, promotion and management of codes of best practice for professional geoscientists.

Guidelines for the Estimation and Reporting of Australian Black Coal Resources and Reserves, published by the Coalfield Geology Council of New South Wales and the Queensland Resources Council is considered to be a useful reference for geoscientists involved in the coal industry. The Guidelines, however, are not binding on AIG members.

AIG recommends that the JORC Code sets standards for public coal resources and reserves reporting and that these guidelines should be used as a guide to best practice for coal resources reporting.
