Key dates for implementation of AIG’s new membership system are fast approaching:
18 June: The new membership system will go live with access provided via a link on the AIG web site. The link will appear at the top of each page, adjacent to the search tool. Members will be sent usernames and initial passwords to enable them to log in and update their profiles. Currently unfinancial members will be sent renewal notices to allow their membership to be brought up to date.
25 June: 2014-2015 membership renewal notices will be sent to members using their registered email addresses. This will provide time for on-line and off-line payment of membership renewals prior to the end of the 2013-14 financial year on June 30.
The new membership portal is an important initiative which will significantly improve the ability of Council and state branch committees to communicate with members, as well as improving institute management processes which will help to contain the cost of AIG membership. The portal will also provide a range of new member services, including the ability to maintain their personal details and maintain subscriptions to AIG’s email newsletters and AIG News.
It is now essential to ensure that your contact details are up to date. If you received AIG News by mail at your nominated address in the last two weeks and have been regularly receiving email newsletters, this will be the case. If you have any doubts, or don’t receive a username for the membership system by 20 June, contact AIG’s Executive Officer, Lynn Vigar.
The move to the new AIG membership system is rapidly approaching.
We received an excellent response to the request for assistance in re-establishing contact with members for whom the email addresses on file were not up to date, which trimmed the list significantly. There are now only a handful of Members and Fellows, one Retired Member and a small number of Student Members for whom email contact details are still being sought. The list appears below. If you are in contact with any of these members please ask them to contact Lynn Vigar, AIG’s Executive Officer, immediately so that their information may be updated.
The new membership system will provide an ability to maintain your profile and contact details, newsletter preferences, as well as access exclusive information and services offered by AIG to members. All AIG members will receive their username and an initial password (to be changed on login to the new membership system) in the next few days. Please watch your email inbox and the AIG web site over the next two weeks for additional information required to help successfully complete our transition to the new system.
Membership renewal notices will be also be distributed by email (where possible) in the first half of June to allow renewals to be lodged before the end of the current financial year on June 30, 2014.
If you are in contact with any of the members listed, again, please ask them to contact Lynn Vigar, AIG’s Executive Officer, immediately so that their information may be updated.

The introduction of the new AIG membership system is getting closer.
Members need to provide an email address which will be used as your username to access the new system. At present, we don’t have email addresses on fuel for the following members. If your name appears in the list below please contact AIG’s Executive Officer, Lynn Vigar, immediately.
If you are in contact with any of the members on the list, please pass this message on to them!

Implementation of AIG’s new membership management system has commenced. The system will be accessed via a “Member Portal” button that will appear on the AIG web site home page (www.aig.org.au) during May and will allow you to maintain your own contact details, renew your membership subscription securely on-line, obtain copies of past membership invoices and manage your subscription to AIG email newsletters. The system features a simple and clear user interface and is very easy to use. The new system will help to ensure any questions by members can be answered quickly and efficiently by the AIG secretariat, Councillors or Council committee chairpersons, with the progress in resolving the issue tracked by the system.
All changes, including membership renewals, made to any profile in the system will be tracked to ensure any data integrity issues will be easy to identify and resolve.
The membership portal will also include a number of new features including:
- Member classified advertisements (find a good home for those old journals!)
- Employment advertisements
- A CPD diary that applies AIG’s multipliers for CPD activity and reports CPD both year by year and on a three-year rolling average basis. The diary is designed to assist RPGeo’s track their CPD but will be available to all members.
Your username will be your email address currently registered with AIG (based on the profile update sheet distributed with the 2013 membership renewals). Each member will require a unique password. If you currently use a shared email address for AIG correspondence, a new, unique email address will be required. All current members will be sent a username and initial password for accessing the new system during the third week of May. A notice will appear on the AIG web site and by distributed by email when this takes place so that if you don’t receive a username and initial password you can immediately resolve this.
The 2014 membership renewal notices will be raised by the new system and distributed in early June to provide time for payment by June 30 in order to take advantage of tax deductibility in the 2014 financial year.
What you need to do to help with the transition to the new membership system:
Now: If you currently use a shared email address, provide a new, unique address for use by the new system to AIG’s Executive Officer, Lynn Vigar by email to firstname.lastname@example.org. If you’re uncertain about your email address please contact Lynn.
Third week of May: Watch for your username and initial password notification and notice that they have been distributed by email and on the AIG web site. If you don’t receive this notification, the web site and advisory email will contain instructions for resolving the issue.
When you receive your login information: Access the portal via www.aig.org.au and ensure your profile is accurate and up to date to ensure that you receive your 2014 membership renewal during June.
The new system will help AIG remain a low cost and responsive institute focussed on the interests of members.
