AI is coming whether you are ready or not.” Alan Finkel (Australia’s Chief Scientist).

John Anderson will discuss his early positive encounters through the Unearthed Explorer Challenge hosted by OZ Minerals.

The DeepSightX team, comprising data scientists from the Australian Institute for Machine Learning at the University of Adelaide, plus academic and industry geoscientists, entered the crowd-sourced competition aimed at revitalizing targeting around Prominent Hill. Within three months of starting from scratch, the team’s approach of integrating minerals system geoscience with deep digital analysis achieved a competitive submission that was awarded second prize.

John will propose there are synergistic learnings for both disciplines of the team including the roles geoscientists can play in embracing Exploration AI.
