The Waihi operation is in the North Island of New Zealand and mining has a history that spans three centuries after gold was first discovered in the 1800s. The operation consists of underground and open pit operation after OceanaGold received consent to develop the Martha Underground in 2019. This project extends the life of the Waihi mine by at least ten years. This talk will provide a brief history of the project and focus on the geology and mineralisation at Waihi.
