AIG, AusIMM, GSA Technical Meeting: Aeromagnetics, Geology and Exploration: Sydney NSW

1 CPD HourJoint AIG – AusIMM – GSA Technical meeting

Speaker: David Isles, Senior Consulting Geophysicist, Southern Geoscience Consultants

cobar_2015_05_techmeeting_flyerAeromagnetic data has been a significant part of the exploration and mapping landscape for over 30 years, but we still do not use it well. About 50% of the exploration value is ‘left on the table’ in most surveys because we allocate too little time and geological thinking to interpretation/integration.

David’s talk will illustrate the key steps in the integration of aeromagnetics with geology and emphasises the need for project personnel to drive this process (as opposed to relying on ‘specialists’). A gold exploration case study on a well exposed and well mapped prospect area in the NT is presented, along with some Yilgarn Block examples. Local imagery and exploration issues will be included in the talks wherever possible.
