Abstract

The first fossilised dinosaur bone found in SW Queensland was discovered by the son of a property owner while mustering in 2004.

Since that first find, a number of sauropod dinosaurs have been identified from two initial sites close to Eromanga, SW Queensland with seven other sites known in the area. The discoveries include the largest dinosaur ever discovered in Australia and are from the Cretaceous Winton Formation within the Eromanga Basin.

These discoveries are putting SW Queensland on the map as a new frontier for dinosaur research and discovery.

Mel is involved with the Eromanga Dinosaur Project and will give us a talk on the latest finding from recent digs.
