GPIC PRESENTATION

The Four Eagles Gold Project: gold under cover north of Bendigo

Tom Burrowes

Abstract

Through Providence Gold and Minerals, Tom Burrowes took up the challenge to chase Bendigo-style gold deposits under cover to the north of Bendigo. Annual drilling programs targeting strike continuations of mineralised structures commenced in 2002. Three ‘hits’ of anomalous gold in 2009 were followed by the big hit in 2010—with the discovery drill hole FE 328 returning 6 m @ 83 g/t Au in a quartz reef from 123 metres! In this, Geoff Turner and the Geological Survey of Victoria (Gold Undercover and drill subsidies) played key roles. In 2011 Catalyst Metals became joint venture partner, and in 2015 the Hancock Prospecting group joined in the search, reactivating the scene.

About the presenter

For the past 30 years Tom Burrowes has worked in the resources sector all over Australia—from Kalgoorlie to Queensland to Tasmania. But Tom has had a passion for the history and development of gold in Victoria since his teenage years. In Victoria, he has had executive roles with Perseverance (mainly at Nagambie heap leach) and at Bendigo Mining Ltd (until 1995).
