JORC & Professional Standards
Rules for Fools, Guides for the Wise and the Challenges Facing Mineral Exploration in Australia
Due to the integral role geologists play in providing expert material and advice to investors in the minerals industry and in reporting industry’s work to government, a geologist’s professional standards and competencies (or lack of them) are being examined in ever-increasing detail.
The Australasian Code for Reporting of Exploration Results, Mineral Resources and Ore Reserves (‘the JORC Code’) is a professional code of practice that sets minimum standards for the public reporting of minerals exploration results, mineral resources and ore reserves. When followed correctly, a JORC-compliant geological report (a ‘Good Job’) allows investors to decipher the geological risks that affect their investment.
But what happens if the geologist does not do a ‘Good Job’?
The AIG is pleased to invite all geoscientists to this important lecture which aims to cover the basics of JORC, essential future issues for our profession and how these will affect practicing geologists.
AIG members will receive 1 CPD hour.
