Ballarat Technical Talk – March 2019
Pilbara Gold Rush – What just nearly happened?
Presented by Wessley Edgar

Date & Time

20 Skipton Street – upstairs
Through Kirkland Lake Gold’s investments into gold explorers in the Pilbara Wess undertook a number of field visits during a period of somewhat unprecedented worldwide interest in the gold potential of the province and has offered to share these experiences with Ballarat GPIC. From comparison with the Witwatersrand gold deposits, marketing of gold nuggets and prospector riches, and the chase to understand what the geology results mean for evaluating the large scale gold potential of the Pilbara – Wess can present a very pictorial storyline, and geological insight, of the rush which hasn’t lived up to the inflamed attention it first received.
Wess has worked in mining or exploration geology roles across Australia during the past 28 years at sites such as Henty, Paddington, Pine Creek, Renison and exploration successes at Raleigh near Kundana, Magellan lead deposit at Wiluna and the purchase & resumption of mining at the Ballarat Gold Mine. He is currently Chief Geologist with Kirkland Lake Gold with focus on its exploration & mining programs at Fosterville and in the Northern Territory where expectations are that mining will resume soon.
It’s free entry. All welcome. Cash bar. Meals available.
