Marat Abzalov
Dr Abzalov is a geologist with 38 years of experience holding a PhD degree in Geology obtained for studying nickel deposits in Russia and Fennoscandia. In his diverse geological career with the projects encompassing five continents, different commodities and deposit types (Fig. 1) he has fulfilled various roles in research, exploration and mining geology, including senior management positions at WMC Resources (Geology Manager – Projects) and Rio Tinto (Exploration manager – New Opportunities, Eurasia).
Dr Abzalov has managed and consulted on a wide range of exploration and mining project studies from greenfield exploration to bankable feasibility. Using his innovative approach of geostatistically assisted 3D structural modelling, he has led WMC Resources to the successful resource growth at Olympic Dam and Cliffs deposits and was also instrumental in the discovery of the uranium resources in Jordan. Since 2018 Dr.M.Abzalov is acting as expert-consultant for IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) organisation of UN.
His expertise and technical skills have been acknowledged in the industry by awarding him in 2015 by SAIMM the Dani Krige’s Gold Medal, for his novel geostatistical resource estimation method LUC (Localised Uniform Conditioning). His monograph “Applied Mining Geology”, published in 2016, has increasingly becoming the preferred technical guide for exploration and mining geology specialists. In 2017 the monograph has been selected by ‘Choice’ magazine as an ‘Outstanding Academic Title’ for the year 2017. Working most of his career in the mining industry, Dr.M.Abzalov has continued scientific activities, published more than 90 papers and is a Deputy – Editor of the international scientific journal (Applied Earth Science).
Cam Knight
Cam has been an actor and stand up comedian for the past 16 years and was the co-host of a brand new show on Channel 9 called Unreal Estate alongside Kate Langbroek in 2016. He has regularly appeared on the Today show, co-hosted Studio 10 on Channel 10 and can be heard as a weekly co-host on Triple M’s Merrickville and The Weekenders with Dan Ginane in Sydney.
