GOLD24 Short Course Kalgoorlie: Geochemistry of Hydrothermal Gold Mineralising Systems

By John Ridley
Monday 28 October 2024 at the Railway Motel, Forrest St Kalgoorlie (Opposite train station)

Multielement geochemical data of both ores and rocks have become readily obtainable and widely available through global databases.
There are now techniques to obtain multielement chemical data of ore-forming hydrothermal fluids preserved in fluid inclusions. In this
workshop, we will examine several case studies involving evaluation and assessment of ore systems in different types of hydrothermal
gold deposits through ore, fluid, and rock geochemical data. The course emphasis will be on the investigation process. Discussion of
these data provides value in understanding of gold deposits and in exploration programmes.

Speaker

John Ridley

John holds the Malcolm McCallum chair of economic geology at Colorado State University for the past twenty years after earlier positions teaching ore deposit geology, structural geology, and petrology in universities in Europe, southern Africa and Australia. He is the author of and is currently writing the second edition of the comprehensive textbook “Ore Deposit Geology”, which builds on his global experience in the field.
