GSA NSW Division August meeting

An Update on Exploration Success at the Woodlawn Deposit, NSW

Speaker: Kate Hine, Mitre Geophysics

When

Thursday 9th August
5:30 pm

Where

City of Sydney RSL
565 George Street, Sydney (meet us on Level 3 for free drinks, followed by the talk at 6 pm on Level 4).

The NSW Division of the GSA will be supporting Kate Hine of Mitre Geophysics to come to Sydney to give the talk listed below. This talk maybe of interest to the members of the AusIMM ASEG, AIG and SMEDG given the mineral exploration and geophysics context of the talk. Therefore, the NSW Division committee would appreciate if you could share this with your members and networks.

Abstract

Kate’s talk will be about the pivotal role that geophysics has played in revitalising the Woodlawn mine. The talk initially outlines the surprise discovery in 2012, and then goes on to delineate the other areas of the deposit that DHEM subsequently revealed significant new mineralisation. She then discusses the lessons learnt in the process, not only for near mine exploration but also for exploration for VHMS in the Lachlan Fold Belt. Finally she outline Heron’s development strategy and their ongoing exploration strategy in this highly prospective area.

GSA members and non members are welcome. We look forward to seeing you all there!
