Workshop 4: Integrating ASX Rules with the JORC Code

Mineral exploration and mining companies listed on the Australian Securities Exchange and New Zealand Exchange are required to report on their activities in accordance with the respective exchange’s Listing Rules. These rules require companies to comply with the JORC Code when reporting Exploration Results and Exploration Targets, Mineral Resources, and Ore Reserves. For listed companies on the Australian Securities Exchange, the listing rules have a number of specific requirements that are additional to the JORC Code.

Workshop 4 is a stand-alone module designed as a refresher for geological staff who currently take Competent Person responsibility for public reporting of exploration and/or mining information, those that may be able to do so now or in the near future, and non-technical mining industry professionals that work with such information. Part 1 of this workshop is a core module that is common to Workshops 2, 3 and 4. It provides an overview of the JORC Code, describes the general elements of the Code, outlines the role and responsibility of the Competent Person, and summarises the complaints process. Part 2 covers the key elements of the Australian Securities Exchange Listing Rules relevant to exploration and mining information and common compliance issues, Reporting case studies will be used to illustrate how the JORC Code is applied.
