3.00pm to 4.00pm, AEST
Rod Dawney (AUSMEC Geoscience)
Rod Dawney will talk on the subject of DATA BIAS AND OTHER LIMITATIONS IN GEOSCIENTIFIC DATA. Data is biased by the context it was acquired under, and in many datasets those contexts have not been fully accounted for in data manipulation and interpretation, and in many cases are poorly recorded or not even recorded. Rod will go through the various data types he comes across and will discuss the biases as he sees them, and give some illustrative examples.
Mark Gordon (Geological Survey of Queensland)
Mark Gordon will talk about the GEOSCIENCE DATA MODERNISATION PROJECT. This project will help transform Queensland’s geoscience data ecosystem and enable data-driven exploration, discovery and success for the industry. The presentation will cover areas of particular interest to those in the Mineral Exploration and Mining industry including a new GSQ Lodgement Portal that will replace the existing QDEX Reports system and provide a streamlined way for resource authority holders to lodge statutory reports and data, using new industry reporting templates. The new portal will include data validation to ensure only quality geoscience data is lodged for the long-term benefit of the resources industry.
