CANCELLED SA GeoPub To Recommence August 2020

Due to the new SA COVID-19 restrictions, we will unfortunately need to defer our SA GeoPub scheduled for this Thursday night – Thursday 6 August 2020.
On behalf of the AIG, stay safe and see you soon!

Date

Thursday 6th August from 6pm

Location

Coopers Alehouse at the Earl, Pulteney Street Adelaide

Technical Talk by: Marija Dmitrijeva

Marija currently works as an exploration geologist with FMG and recently completed her PhD at the University of Adelaide using multivariate statistical analysis of trace elements in iron-oxides to constrain the spatial and temporal evolution of IOCG and BIF-hosted ore deposits in South Australia.

New statistical methods for revealing path finder elements associations in mineralised rocks

Whole-rock and in-situ minerals geochemical data is routinely collected for various applications in mining, minerals exploration and science. With the ever-increasing amounts of data, its complexity and size, the application of quantitative and reproducible methods, such as statistical analysis, becomes necessary in order to extract the maximum information from these multi-element datasets. This talk will walk you through some of the most utilised statistical methods in geochemistry and gives a few examples and case studies demonstrating the benefits of the quantitative approach to geochemical data.

To ensure your health and safety we will be working with the Coopers Alehouse to ensure

we are COVIDSAFE (and meeting all SA COVID-19 restriction regulations). Stay home if you feel unwell
