Registering as a Mentee

The AIG Mentoring Program is an initiative of the National Graduate Committee to provide early, mid career and more mature geoscientists, MSc/PhD Candidates and undergraduate students, with practical advice and feedback on career and personal development from senior geoscience professionals.

The AIG Mentoring Program will run from April to November 2024, allowing time for the development of strong relationships between mentees and mentors. Mentor-mentee contact will be through three formal group meetings/social events as part of the program, plus private meetings arranged between pairs.

Joining the program involves a commitment to attend the formal meetings (where possible) and to meet regularly with your pairing between the formal meetings (at least once a month but fortnightly meetings are recommended). Please read the AIG Mentoring Handbook for 2022 for further information if you are unsure of your ability to commit to the program. Mentees successfully completing the program will receive a certificate of completion.

PLEASE NOTE: AIG membership is a requirement to participate. For a membership application form to join AIG go to https://www.aig.org.au/about-aig/membership/membership-application-approval-process/

Registration for the 2024 AIG Mentoring Programs is FREE OF CHARGE for mentees.

Satisfactory completion of the program (attending formal events where possible and regular communication between pairings) will earn each Student Mentee a $50 voucher towards the cost of attending an AIG CPD event (workshop/symposium) of their choice.

Both Mentors and Mentees can claim CPD points for their participation in the programs. Further information on CPD points can be found here.

Please complete the following details if you wish to register as a MENTEE in the 2023 mentoring program. Please note that the AIG will make every attempt to match you with an appropriate mentor, but there are no guarantees that a mentor will be available for every mentee or that a close match with your area of interest can be achieved. If you are paired with a mentor, this form will be sent to your mentor to familiarise them with your mentoring needs.
