The Australian Institute of Geoscientists (AIG) is the leading Institute representing professional geoscientists employed in all sectors of industry, education, research and government throughout Australia (www.aig.org.au).

The Board of the AIG has commenced the process of recruitment of a Chief Executive Officer (CEO), with the successful candidate to join us as an employee ideally in early 2023. The primary role of the position is to support our volunteer teams who make AIG activities happen and to progress the delivery of AIG’s objectives. The CEO will report directly to the Board.

We invite expressions of interest from enthusiastic, energetic and capable persons with the following background and characteristics;

  • An experience-based understanding of geoscience and geoscientists’ professional activities
  • Leadership responsibility within operational and governance components of significant organisations including budget and financial oversight and management.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development program delivery and a history of active professionalism
  • Strong written and verbal communication including confident presentation and public-speaking abilities
  • Background or experience in marketing and promotional activities
  • Experience with the standard Microsoft Suite Products as well as general tech-savviness
  • Current Australian driving licence and valid working/resident status
  • Prior or current Not-For-Profit or professional association management experience would be highly regarded
