When Dr Anita Marshall had a near-fatal encounter with a drunk driver and was gradually put back together through 6 reconstructive surgeries, field work suddenly became much more challenging. Thankfully she didn’t let that stop her from becoming a geologist!
Research has shown that most geoscientists think that physical ability is necessary for a successful career in geology so I’m thrilled that we have Anita joining us this week to talk about her personal journey as a geoscientist with a disability. She’ll talk with us about the work she’s been doing to create academic and career pathways for people with disabilities in the geosciences, and share some actions that anyone can do to create more disability-inclusive workplaces in the field, lab or office.
