We’re thrilled to have Shaun Barker the Director of MDRU – Mineral Deposit Research Unit joining us for our coffee session this week to discuss identifying cryptic alteration around carbonate-hosted ore deposits.
In this talk, Shaun will provide a summary of key tools for recognising and quantifying the cryptic alteration associated within carbonate-hosted ore deposits, and the tools available to the explorer to help recognise and vector towards carbonate-hosted ore deposits. A case study will be presented from the Mount Isa Copper deposits.
Shaun Barker
Shaun Barker is Director of the Mineral Deposit Research Unit at the University of British Columbia, a role he has held since November 2020. Prior to his current role, Shaun was an associate professor at CODES at the University of Tasmania, and a senior lecturer at the University of Waikato in New Zealand. Some of his best known research includes the development and application of novel mineral and geochemical analytical tools for mineral exploration. In this talk, Shaun will provide a summary of key tools for recognising and quantifying the cryptic alteration associated within carbonate-hosted ore deposits, and the tools available to the explorer to help recognise and vector towards carbonate-hosted ore deposits. A case study will be presented from the Mount Isa Copper deposits.
Cam Knight
Cam has been an actor and stand up comedian for the past 16 years and was the co-host of a brand new show on Channel 9 called Unreal Estate alongside Kate Langbroek in 2016. He has regularly appeared on the Today show, co-hosted Studio 10 on Channel 10 and can be heard as a weekly co-host on Triple M’s Merrickville and The Weekenders with Dan Ginane in Sydney.
