Prof David Phillips, University of Melbourne

Professor David Phillips is Head of the School of Earth Sciences and Director of the 40 Ar/ 39 Ar Laboratory at the University of Melbourne. He is internationally recognised for his research on ultra-precise 40 Ar/ 39 Ar dating methods and their application to ore deposits (notably gold and diamonds), and volcanic rocks, including tuffs related to hominin localities in the Turkana Basin, Kenya.

GPIC live meetings return after a year in lockdown. 2021 kicks off with annual Geology of Gold course presentation.

We welcome you all to join us as we return in 2021. We’ve utilised the break as an opportunity to re-vamp the GPIC format, including the chance to catch up with colleagues over dinner prior to the presentation.

This GPIC presentation is part of the field trip component of the 5-day course based at the School of Earth Sciences, University of Melbourne.
