Hands on Hylogging
The what, why and how of hyperspectral core logging using HyLogging drill core and drill chip data and the latest TSG-Core software.
Course Leaders: Jon Huntington (CSIRO Hon Fellow and HyLogging/TSG co-developer) and Vic Agron (Manager HyLogging Systems FLSmidth)
Cost: $495 for regular admission. $300 for AIG and AusImm members. $150 for unemployed and students.
Course leaders: Jon Huntington (CSIRO Hon Fellow and HyLogging / TSG co-developer) and Vic Agron (Manager HyLogging Systems FLSmidth). This interactive and hands-on workshop will equip participants with skills and understanding around adding hyperspectral logging to their exploration and prospect evaluation tool box.
Course content will include:
- Overview of the purpose and benefits of hyperspectrally-logged mineralogy; o How does HyLogging work? What does it produce? What to expect?
- Introduction to spectroscopic mineralogy for alteration and host-rock characterisation.
- Using HyLogging data to identify and characterise both hydrous (e.g. mica, chlorite, amphibole, carbonate, etc) and anhydrous (e.g. quartz, feldspar, olivine, pyroxene, garnet, carbonate) minerals.
- Understanding and using strategies to interpret HyLogging data. o Learning the differences in interpreting hydrous (SWIR) and anhydrous (TIR) spectra. o Domaining drill holes into mineral assemblage zones and using TSG’s domain editor • Blending fast automated methods with tailored manual methods.
- Viewing and recognising the wealth of information available in HyLogging data, including publically available data packages from the rapidly-growing National Virtual Core Library (NVCL)
- Integrating HyLogged results with your other exploration data. Down-sampling and exporting.
- When to apply to HyLogging. Use on cores, chips, blast-hole pulps, hand samples, etc.
- Hands-on use of the latest TSG-Core software on selected drill cores. o Fully functional TSG software and example datasets will be provided for the workshop (Windows PCs only).
- Accessing HyLogging services and systems. Accessing TSG software.
- Q and A session.
