ALGA Victorian Branch Forum
This special split session will explore two key current topics for our sector.
EPA Inquiry
The Victorian Minister for the Environment, Climate Change and Water has recently established a Ministerial Advisory Committee to conduct a public inquiry into the Victorian Environment Protection Authority. We are delighted to welcome Annette Jones, Legal Adviser to the EPA Inquiry Secretariat, to talk about the public Inquiry, what it will be examining and how you can contribute. As a key industry group, ALGA Melbourne branch has been asked to make a submission to the Inquiry on the key trends and emerging risks and issues that will shape what Victoria needs from the EPA in the future. The session will be the main opportunity to put forward your views to the ALGA Committee who are collating views from the discussion to submit to the Inquiry. Come along to contribute your ideas for the needs of the remediation sector and shape the ALGA contribution.
Consultant’s certification
There has been much recent discussion around raising the bar for contaminated land professionals in Australia. What are the available certification schemes and which is most suitable for you and your business?
The Australian contaminated land and remediation sector has identified a need for competency standards among its professionals to ensure a level of competence for contaminated land practitioners. For consulting firms and consultants, knowing that your people have the technical and managerial skill set required to produce excellent project outcomes for your clients and that you are recognised as being competent in your chosen field of work is important. For clients, the session might be relevant to help you choose a future consulting firm to undertake assessment and/or remediation works at your site.
Come along to Lander and Rogers and hear from representatives of the three certification schemes about what their scheme offers you:
