SA AIG GEOPUB – September 2022

Date

Thursday, 1st Sept 2022
Time: 6pm – 7.30pm (talk starts 6.30pm)

Venue

Coopers Alehouse at the Earl, Pulteney Street Adelaide

Talk title

“Stop sampling rubbish” – how to save surface geochem from QA/QC hell; and more tales from the underground.

Outline

Quality Assurance is an integral part of exploration which is potentially done poorly. Collection of appropriate, consistent, non-contaminated samples is critical to an exploration program. Given that our predictive capacity to determine cover depth is ZERO, is a surface “soil” a valid sample? So let’s explore what are the key components of a successful sampling campaign.

Presenter

Mark Arundell, Geologist, IMEx Consulting

Mark consults as a geologist and geochemist, applying his extensive experience in the search for copper and gold mineralisation and other commodities. Mark has the benefit of reviewing
geochemical data from many exploration companies, seeing both the good aspects and not so good
aspects, thus nurturing a passion about collecting quality samples in the field.
