Australia’s mining industry has received a much-needed boost with the establishment of a $215 million research organisation aimed at developing technologies to increase the discovery of new mineral deposits.
The Assistant Minister for Science, Jobs and Innovation Zed Seselja and Minister for Resources and Northern Australia Matt Canavan have announced that the MinEx Cooperative Research Centre (MinEx CRC) was successful in securing $50 million in Federal Government funding as part of the 19th CRC Program selection round.
The new CRC organisation has strong industry and research backing, with 34 companies committing $165 million (cash and in-kind) to the CRC over the next 10 years.
MinEx CRC will create new opportunities for mineral discovery by delivering industry-led, outcome focussed research in three areas;
